USA 2019 - Week 4, Austin

On the way to Austin we stopped at the Riverwalk in San Antonio for a magical stroll around the pretty river. There were so many squirrels!

We then walked to the Alamo where we enjoyed the pretty grounds, but feel like the history of the place was a bit lost on us. It was clearly a very important experience to a lot of people that were there, almost definitely more so than the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum strangely juxtapositioned across the road from it.

Next stop was Smitty's Market in Lockheart (you park at the Caldwell Country House, and walk PAST the place called Load Off Fannys) where we had our first firey taste of Texas BBQ. It was delicious! Unfortunately they'd sold out of the jalapeno sausage, but the regular sausage was one of the best sausages I've ever had.

The airbnb we're staying at is right next to the flagship Wholefood's Market store, and an Amy's icecream, which made for a perfect dinner and dessert! We spent over an hour at the Wholefoods, that place is incredible.

This morning we went for a pretty run around the bridges near the Colorado river (definitely on par with Monger), and are about to head out to Franklin's BBQ for barbecue experience #2. Hope it lives up to the hype built up by Andrew's book!
