USA 2019 - Week 1, Beaver Creek Day 2

The fireworks last night were really pretty! The glow stick run (where the kids all get a glow stick and run down the mountain) was cute but amusingly shitty, and we were secretly hoping that one of the kids would fall over and cause a glow stick avalanche, but no luck.

Today we spent the morning skiing in the Red Buffalo area. The Red Buffalo run was our favourite; it was a nice wide green but with enough steep areas that you could get speed and practice your turns. We also did the Centennial run a couple of times which has two black sections! I think I'm officially now OK with blues, and some short/mild black runs; something definitely clicked these last couple of days. Andrew's skiing has gotten really good, and he's even managing to do little jumps, even if he insists he only gets 1cm of air.

We had lunch at Spruce Saddle Lodge, an amazing chilli that kept us going for the rest of the day. We met up with Yvy and Eduardo after lunch and did a few more runs at Red Buffalo. Yvy and I didn't last too much longer, and Andrew escorted us down the mountain on the Gold Rush run down to the safety and hot chocolates of the boot room while the boys went out for some more skiing. I'm so impressed at Andrew's ski stamina!

Yvonne and I caught up over s'mores and 3pm cookies, then met up with Andrew and Eduardo to drop off our ski gear and have drinks and dinner at Coyote Cafe.

Tomorrow we're planning to make the most of the Park Hyatt until 12pm, when Yvonne and Eduardo are giving us a lift to the airport. We'll be really sad to say goodbye to those guys, and to Beaver Creek.
