Fam back together
Simona and Yvonne are back! It's been amazing having the whole family together again, starting off with Simmy's birthday.
Teleoperation Feasibility Study
We had a very successful feasibility study at work, with a celebratory cake that represents one of the operator assistants on the Teleoperation Station.
Father's Day and Jenny's Birthday
Father's day lazy suzan lunch at the standard was delicious as always, and dinner at Lupo Lab for Jenny's birthday was another lovely night.
Down South
A quick little getaway at Bina Maya was very relaxing. This is by far our favourite place to stay, it is gorgeous. We did a hike at Cape Naturaliste and saw lots of whales and wildflowers, had deep fried pickles and a tasting paddle at Wild Hop Brewing, did tastings and got some bottles at Cherubino and Flametree, had an incredible lunch at Leeuwin Estate, and did lots of relaxing at the accommodation (which has an outdoor bath).
Ava's Birthday
A puppy themed birthday this year was a nice respite from the Frozen theme, and Amy did an incredible job as always! The paint your own cookies were a hit!
Perth Royal Show 2022
Another wonderful year at the show! We finally hung the beautiful painting by Aurelie from last year's Royal Show.
Highlights from this year include the chill 12 year old rooster at the animal nursery, Andrew's dad holding a wedgetail eagle, hanging out with a variety of fellow show lovers, and indulging too much with all the delicious food.
Wildflowers at Zamia Cafe
I didn't know this place existed! Such a lovely cafe during wildflower season.
Bottomless Brunch at Pogo
Thanks Amy for a great birthday present! This was a good bottomless brunch, kid friendly, and didn't feel as gross as some of the other ones I've been to. We've booked it again for December for when Kym arrives!
Tame Impala (and Louis C.K.) at RAC Arena
Our tickets had gone yellow on the fridge because we'd had them since pre-COVID. This concert was incredible, definitely worth the wait, and Genesis Owusu was a really fun support band. We also saw Louis C.K. at the RAC arena, but didn't take any photos, he was controversial as always, but really good!
Fremantle Beerfest
Great day out in Freo as usual! Highlights Bright Tank (double chalk face killah) and Campus, and the set from Kav Temperley (Eskimo Joe).
Sip and Paint
This was such a fun event, we had a great time, and look how good our paintings are! At first we were all a bit nervous, but the way the class was lead made it so that everyone's painting was really lovely, you really couldn't go wrong. The appropriately themed Art Series Leeuwin Chardonnay was the perfect sip.
Khruangbin at Fremantle Arts Center
After missing out on tickets initially (we never thought they would have sold out, good on them!) and then getting tickets from Tixel (well done Andrew!), we had a wonderful time at Khruangbin, with Mildlife supporting. Khruangbin were really great, and I will forever see their cute stage presence when listening to their music. The did a lot of cool covers mixed together (maybe like 20 songs in a row, each with 10-15s, mostly Australian themed), and played a lot of their instrumental tracks - it was really cool seeing everyone get so into it, what a cool band.
It was an absolute packed crowd, and unfortunately this lead to a not so happy ending of us getting COVID for the second time. Oh well! At least this means we'll be immune for the holidays, and we kept with the tradition of doing a COVID puzzle (the Great Hall Tapestry from Parliament House, thanks Michael and Iva!).
