Yesterday we explored Yosemite Valley (does NOT rhyme with Vegemite) and marvelled at the beauty of the water and rock feature in this national park.
The Upper and Lower falls were our favourite feature, while the trek to Mirror Lake was our favourite walk (although the lake itself was more like al foil than a mirror). The half dome was really pretty, and we were hoping to see some field mice in the meadow from the viewing area but no luck. We unfortunately only got to see El Capitan from the bus, but that was enough to get a good impression about how huge the largest granite structure on earth is; can't wait to watch Free Solo now! Andrew was so disappointed that he didn't see a black bear, but we did see a bobcat from the bus!
My boots were fucking fantastic, I felt indestructible! They were so waterproof and grippy (and fluffy); best purchase ever.
Lunch at the Majestic Yosemite Hotel was lovely. We took a look at the main dining room which was, well, majestic, but decided to go with the slightly more casual bar area.
Last night we had a casual cheese and crackers dinner at the Miner's Inn, enjoyed the Jacuzzi, and had a super early one; our first proper sleep for ages! On our drive to San Jose we took the Burton Drive turn off and stopped at the Intel museum (as well as a pretty scary stop off at Modesto), which was a great little interactive museum to spend an hour at.
We're now enjoying Andrew's patented "Rendevous in 90 Minutes" boilermaker (High West Rendevous whiskey + Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA + (optional but awesome) JalapeƱo Pringles) in preparation for dinner at the best Thai in town (Tee Nee Thai Cuisine), and then the NHL game at SAP Stadium. Go Sharks!
