Last night (after a quick snack, more tomatoes haha) we checked out Riddle Bar, after finally finding it hidden on Skadarska street (the beautiful cobblestone street), and it was definitely worth the search. Once you find the door, ring the bell (just once!), an immaculately dressed bartender will come and take you to a dark and moody room that promises good cocktails. There is no menu, but you will get a curated drink based on a few adjectives of what you like in a cocktail. My first drink was based on the descriptors of earthy, bitter, and spicy, and featured carrot rajkiya and lime. Andrew got a riff on a Manhattan, and Claire’s was a version of a Sazerac that had a coconutty flavour to it. Our second drinks were just as theatrical, and involved some shakers getting thrown across the room, and some cedar smoke in a conical flask. We absolutely loved it! I think we’ll go back.
Dinner was at Drama Cevapi, which really hit the spot.
This morning we started off with a run, I did about 4km, and Andrew did 6x that at a whopping 24km (he was aiming for 20, but got lost by the total amount I managed to do). We both started off towards Kalegmagdan Park, where I spent most of my run exploring the castles, ruins, tanks, and even got to peek over to some of the animals in the zoo. I never did manage to get to the water, but had a great time exploring the (very hilly!) sights.
Next we met up with everyone, including Michael and Liz and had a wander around the city, stopping for lunch, drinks, and Serbian cakes. We stopped at the church that Olga will be baptised at, and Andrew happily pointed out that my mum would notice that it would be near impossible to change this lightbulb.
We stopped at one of the two Dogma brew pubs close by and enjoyed the delicious Hoptopod there, and got a bunch to take home. We also got a puzzle that I cannot wait to make!
