Melbourne - Attica

Wow, what an experience! I've never experienced anything like Attica before. Everything was so beautifully created and well thought out, and the wine (and beer, and sake) pairings were inspired.

The most delicious dish was Gazza's Vegemite Pie, which was a lamb and Vegemite pastry puff covered in grated cheese. The most beautiful dish was the Whipped Emu Egg with Quandong dessert which was served in a hollowed out Emu egg. The funnest thing was going out into the garden to have a Gumbi Gumbi tea in Attica's garden. The most exciting thing was trying abalone for the first time, which was delicious although I can't understand why people would risk their lives diving for it. The most intimidating thing was the Camel Milk Ice which was sprinkled with edible ants; I couldn't bring myself to eat them.

The overall best thing was when Andrew tried to eat the decorative quandong seeds in the wicker and feather basket. The hardest thing was trying to suppress a laugh when, after Andrew almost broke his teeth trying to eat one, we asked the waiter what they were and he explained they were made by the indigenous locals as a table decoration. Trust the Perth people.
