Goodbye Pole Fever

Pole Fever has been my second job since 2011 and my second home since 2009, and when it's doors closed (accompanied by an eviction notice) for good last Wednesday 18th Feb 2015 it was very sad moment. Today I finally removed the keys to the doors from my keychain.

I will really miss that space. I have so many great memories of learning pole from the best instructor and my friend Tammy, putting together group routines with the funniest group of girls, hosting hens nights, and getting fit together with all of our clients.

Pole is something that I don't tell everyone about, especially at my day job. Although people know about pole as a sport now more than ever it's still something I'm hesitant to bring up just in case people think I'm a stripper (I've been asked!). But looking back at the performances we've done, we've all come such a long way together it's impossible not to be proud.

WAPPS 2010 Solo - Muscles, Icecream

WAPPS 2011 Solo - Phoenix, Listomania

WAPPS 2011 Group Performance  - Tammy, Esme, Belle, Krystal and Jess

WAPPS 2013 Solo - SBTRKT, Wildfire

WAPPS 2013 Group Performance - Tammy, Linh, Georgia, Krystal and Jess

2014 Christmas Showcase - Tammy and Jess Doubles - Pendulum, Propane Nightmares

There's a lot of things about Pole Fever that I will miss, but there's also a lot of things I won't (all the other instructors will know what I'm talking about!). I'm looking forward to moving on to other things, like my first Adult Circus class this Sunday with Kinetica. But of course pole will always be a big part of my life.

Good bye Pole Fever! Bowing out.

Hi guys,

I am really sorry to hear that pole fever has closed down. It all makes sense now because my friend and I have been trying to contact you over the last few weeks regarding class times because the online timetable was down. We are a little upset though because we both paid $110 for a ten class pass (expiring in july) of which we only attended one and couldn't attend anymore because you guys had obviously closed. Is there some way we can contact you to discuss this matter?

Thanks,

Emily

Hi Emily,

I'm so sorry to hear that you and your friend are owed money.

Unfortunately, as a casual employee of Pole Fever I can't help you with this at all other than to say keep trying to contact Sabrina to get your money back. I know there's a huge amount of people owed money, myself included; I am owed my last 3 weeks of pay from Pole Fever.

I really hope this all eventually gets resolved, I feel so horrible for all the people affected by this because I really loved and believed in Pole Fever when it was alive.

Please let me know if you get anywhere with your refund. I'll post a comment if I get anywhere with the money I'm owed.

All the best,
Jess

Hi Jess,

Sorry to hear about everything that has happened! I have also been trying to contact Pole Fever but hadnt realised it has shut its doors.

I bought pole lessons back in December for a Christmas gift all totalling nearly $500. I was wondering have you had any luck with your money owed? And do you know of someone i could contact in regards to this?

Again sorry for all that has happened.

Thanks, Taylah

Hi Taylah,

Sorry to hear about all that money owed to you, unfortunately I've heard too many stories like yours. It's so unfair!

Sabrina stopped replying to emails quite early on, and I was at one point in contact with Gary (Sabrina's husband) but he also stopped replying to my emails about 2 months ago.

At this point I honestly don't know what to do. I'm not sure what happens in these situations where the owner of a failed business leaves the country and becomes un-contactable. I hate to think that they could get away with not paying everyone what they owe, it's just disgraceful!

So sorry I can't help, I wish I could. Fingers crossed something happens to make them accountable.

Good luck,
Jess

Hi guys,

In case you happen to come by this post, and were a customer of Pole Fever and are owed money (still have credit on your account) and have not received a refund, please do lodge a complaint with the Department of Consumer Protection. The more complaints there are the stronger the case the DCP will have and hopefully the better the chance people will get their money back!

Good luck,
Jess
