I’m so glad we decided to take this trip! It wasn’t looking like we were going to go after Cyclone Seroja (and two other cyclones) caused the weather event of the century, but we decided to go up one day late, skip Kalbarri this time around, and go straight to Monkey Mia.

We started our 8h trip at 5:30am this morning, stopped at Lancelin for coffee at Offshore Cafe, Salt Dish for breakfast/lunch at Geraldton, and at Billabong Roadhouse for a break and a takeaway Dare, then made it to Monkey Mia this afternoon. We noticed some decimation at Northampton, but otherwise there wasn’t much evidence of the cyclone’s path.

Our accommodation in Monkey Mia is right on the beach, and we even saw some dolphins this afternoon!

We’re finally feeling like we’re on holiday after a beer and some wine, and cooking our BBQ pack (which note for future visits, is only the meat, it’s BYO everything else including oil). I can’t wait to meet the dolphins!
