USA 2019 - Week 4, New Orleans, Atlanta

Dinner at Compere Lapin was fantastic. The cevice and biscuit appetisers were delicious, and both our mains were perfect; I had the jerk chicken and Andrew had the goat curry, we shared the banana zeppole dessert (little doughnut balls), and I resisted the urge to get the copperhead bunny cocktail (served literally) since it sounded gross, but I enjoyed everyone else's around me.

The next day we woke up to a second line wedding, so cool! They used all the songs that we had heard in Treme. After the long drive to Atlanta, we checked into the absolutely stunning Stonehurst bed and breakfast, met the lovely owners, then headed out to Antico and Gio's Italian for a dinner recommended by Josh and Chuck from Stuff you Should Know (the one about pizza). They know their dinner stuff too!

The next morning we had a home cooked breakfast with the other guests. Home cooked still meant top notch restaurant quality; 3 courses of ginger scone, banana yoghurt, and mushroom and polenta dishes, all really good. I can't wait to see what they bring today! We were a little hesitant about the no-phone rule (the encourage you to talk to the other guests instead), but it was really lovely.

We then headed out to the aquarium which was the best we've ever been to. They have not one, but four whale sharks in an enclosure that is built for up to 6! It was so shocking to see them, they are fucking HUGE! The manta rays were also mesmerising as they did backflips around the whale sharks, we spent ages watching them. The dolphin show was super impressive, I had no idea dolphins were so acrobatic, and the sea lion show was really cool too. It's definitely a must do in Atlanta, but we gave Coca Cola world a miss after reading some reviews (we went for a beer and a Mansinth, Marilyn Manson's absinth instead).

Last night was the baseball, go Braves! Andrew had a great time, but got some funny looks when he tried to heckle the cubs, who made 6 errors. Apparently Americans don't heckle the other team, Andrew was disappointed, but I'm sure he'll try his wit again on the next crowd! The best part was chopping with the foam chopper every time something happened. Andrew broke his, he chopped too hard.

Off to another home cooked breakfast at Stonehurst now, then driving to Andrew's Attic (the name of the accommodation, it was meant to be) in Asheville.
