Yesterday we drove from Atlanta to Asheville via Lexington for our first taste of North Carolina (Lexington style) pork bbq. It was delicious, definitely worth the 3h detour! The hush puppies were really good, and the quaint hospitality was lovely; we spoke to the lady who served us for a little bit then heard her go back to the kitchen and explain "they're from Australia y'all!" haha, so cute man.
Andrew's Attic in Willow Winds is the best place we've stayed so far, we wished we booked it for longer.
Today we slept in and then caught an Uber into town and went of a bit of a pub crawl to Wicked Weed, Bhramari, Burial, then finished off with eastern North Carolina bbq at Buxton Hall Barbecue. Our favourite beers were from Burial, and Andrew still maintains that Lexington is the best bbq so far (although I still favour Franklin's).
Tonight we're going to enjoy the cabin over a movie. Andrew's currently tending to the fire, this is so relaxing!
