Feels like this year has flown by, I can't believe it's officially spring!
Cirque du Soleil (Luzia)
Stunning! This was a Christmas present from Andrew's family, and it had been sitting on our fridge for us to look forward to since then. I just love Cirque du Soleil, the shows are so beautiful and ethereal, and Luzia was probably one of the better shows I've seen.
In the second act after the intermission, I was so excited to see poles had been set up on the stage! I snuck down and quickly grabbed one, I think they were 45mm chrome which was interesting to know. The performance was really impressive, with the best Chinese pole I've ever seen in the center of the scene. I must admit I was a little disappointed at the pole performance on the outside poles, not because it wasn't beautiful and impressive (it really was!), but I think I just expected to see something different or new given it's CDS. They have to do this every night for so long though so it's totally understandable it wasn't anything too intense.
The straps performance was beautiful, the soccer ball tricks were so impressive, and of course I balled my eyes out at the contortionist as usual.
My 38th Birthday
Decided to have a quiet birthday this year; since time seems to go faster and faster maybe once every couple of years for the big birthday party is enough! Had a lovely dinner at Cherubino's in Subiaco with Simmy and Rob, Amy and Dermot, and Emma. Andrew made me a delicious chilli, and lemon pudding, and spoiled me with the first Camilla dress I've ever had (it's the most beautiful bit of clothing I've ever seen).
Mildlife and Pond at Freo Social
Mildlife was such a good gig! Andrew didn't get anything weird (like salsa) spilled on him this time. Dinner at Vin Populi beforehand was amazing as always.
We can never not see Pond, they're always so fun! Turns out that my nails glowed extra hard under the UV light they use to scan the invisible stamp, and again, got away with no salsa incident.
Goodbye to DTC
I can't believe DTC has closed down, we will really miss what was a fantastic venue. Big loss for Perth! We snuck in one last sludgefest, and one last quiz which was surprisingly emotional.
Frothtown
Maybe not our favourite beer festival, but fun none the less. Highlights were the Wingman people STILL not recognising me, Andrew Prince doing the dad bod competition, Bobby bringing his ball gag (wine glass holder, but seriously did not look like that), the tiny beer glass at Campus/DTC, and Andrew being a legend and picking us up but being the only driver parked on the oval, because it's a beer festival.
Time - Rone
The Time - Rone exhibition at the Art Gallery of Western Australia was really beautiful. The exhibition was made up of 12 rooms in a part of the AGWA that I've never been in, all decorated as a moment in time, captured but not well preserved, along with a haunting sound track and even the right smells to go with each room. We really enjoyed all of the details, with the library, and switch panel rooms being our favourites. We spotted some cool things, including a stack of Imperial Leather soap (which I always tease Andrew about using), an old bottle of Listerine, a cool article about the Re Store in the newspapers that lined the walls between the rooms, and "Mongers" Lake on a map. The Time Bar at the end was really cute, and we each enjoyed our one cocktail before dinner at Karla in the new Stories area.
Thank you Iva, Michael, and Olga for a wonderful birthday present!
Friends
Catchup with Sam before a photoshoot, we almost didn't make it because it was just so nice in the sun. Can't wait to see the final photos!
Catchups with Emma, Joe, Amy and Dermot at Lucy Luu, after an amaro flight at La Madonna Nera. Andrew was devastated that the biscutino icecream place was closed, but we have a date a Messina soon so hopefully their custard gelato makes up for it.
Caught up with Kate and Nick after far too long, and celebrated with a few too many of Blasta's 6th Birthday beers.
Twisters was a really fun movie to see at the cinema, even without the nostalgia. The Karrinyup Xtreme screen is really impressive, although I can't imagine how bad your neck would feel if you chose the front row of day bed looking seats. I'm still kind of disappointed we didn't try the cinema with the moving seats (DBOX), where Andrew thought that the seats might do full circles in the more hectic twister scenes.
Puzzles and Nails
This was a really fun puzzle (thanks Iva, Michael, and Olga!) of one of my favourite national things in Canberra!
Cool colour changing nails! Now Andrew can tell for sure when I'm cold (hint, it's all the time):
Glow in the dark neon nails, possibly inspired by dehydrating fruit, or this cocktail:
A pretty neat white, I'm getting better at the partial sparkles.
Trainwreck, a colour I received during a swap with another Glamrdip fan in Perth. This hobby is just so wholesome!
Finally made some swatches, makes it easier to choose!
