2022 kind of disappeared, but we really packed in quite a bit towards the end!
Kendrick Lamar was an incredible concert, even better the second time around. The highlight of the night was when Andrew was right about the square thing on the roof coming down; I mocked him initially but he was absolutely right, and Kendrick got on top of it and did a little elevated performance!
Squeezed in a bit more puzzle time:
Celebrated Neville's 75th at Perugino's:
Had some end of year work celebrations, including celebrating my 10 years with Immersive:
Was one of Melina's woo girls at MPDA Amateur comp:
Performed a lovely doubles routine with Ben for the Flying High Christmas Party, which almost didn't happen! Poor Ben hurt his back on the Monday before the performance. With lots of physio, dry needling, stretching, heat packs and pain meds, we got through our performance, and although it wasn't our best run through, we were ecstatic to be able to perform it in front of friends and family:
Here's one of our best run throughs prior to the night:
Celebrated Christmas on Christmas eve with Andrew's family where we enjoyed a beautifully candle lit table, and a whole fish, and managed to avoid getting any ticks while visiting the establishing Burton orchard:
I was obsessed with this duck on the napkin, is it an ornament? Clearly not, what is it DOING there?
Celebrated Christmas with the Manea and Badulescu families, together for the first time since way before COVID. It was so lovely to have everyone together, especially since Mina turns 100 in January! Rob and Eduardo joined us for the first time, and hopefully started a new tradition of throwing the Vortex in the street (and getting help from a neighbour to get it out of a tree).
Got spoilt as usual:
Had drinks with Greg at Pirate Bar, and a final doco club with the girls at Roberts and Will Street:
Mina received some letters from a variety of politicians in the lead up to her 100th birthday:
And, we didn't get photos because it was super secret, but we went to a secret Pendulum gig! Andrew is a genius! He figured it out from a cryptic Rechabite post about a drum and base gig that said something to the effect that it would definitely have people SWINGING into the holidays (which is clearly Pendulum, or would at least would be a very interesting night regardless haha) and bought tickets to surprise me with a couple of days beforehand. When we arrived, they put stickers on our phone cameras and kept the secret going until we saw the set list up on the bar which confirmed it was definitely them... well OK Andrew may have spotted one of the Pendulum guys out the front, but we were so excited it was really them. It was an incredible gig, I will definitely be first in line next time they come!
Finishing off the year with a couple of movies, then celebrating NYE at the Leederville Block Party (again). It hasn't been much of a rest, but looking forward to the start of 2023 regardless!
