NaildIt!

About NaildIt

Get NaildIt on the App Store!

After years of collecting nail polishes and dip powders*, I was drowning in my 50+ colour collection. I was accidentally buying duplicates, forgetting the recipes for amazing custom mixes I'd made, and losing track of manicure photos and application notes.

I finally decided to try my (of course manicured) hand at creating NaildIt - an app to track colours and manicures. I can humbly say that I've absolutely loved using it, and am thrilled to share it with fellow nail enthusiasts!

Why I'm excited to share NaildIt

  • Track your growing collection of colours (no more duplicate purchases!)
  • Save gorgeous manicures for future inspiration (also useful to capture times you haven't quite NaildIt)
  • Browse in list or photo mode to easily see what you have
  • Create custom colour mix recipes with exact ratios (my favourite: "GlamrGlow", 8 parts Aurora to 1 part Mirage for a beautiful glow!)
  • Sort and filter to show exactly what you need
  • Manual sort to match your physical colour swatches
  • Rate how each look turned out, and whether you NaildIt!
  • All data stays on your device - no accounts, no cloud storage
  • No in-app purchases or premium features, buy it once (for less than a nail polish) and that's it
*I absolutely love the GLAMRDiP system, but am not associated with them in any way!

Usage and Tips

  1. There are three areas of the app; Colours, Manicures, and Settings
  2. Add, Edit, and Delete Colours and Manicures to track and organise your stash and creations
    • Can click on an item to see its "Detailed" view
    • You can delete items by:
      • Swiping from right to left to bring up the Delete button in one of the list views
      • Clicking through to a Detailed view and scrolling to the bottom to find the Delete button
      • Long-holding on an item in one of the list views to allow bulk select/delete
  3. Colours and Manicures are quite similar:
    • They each have a:
      • Name
      • Brand
      • Dates Bought/Worn
      • Rating (with a rating of 5 representing a NaildIt manicure!)
      • Photos (main, shown in the list view and additional)
      • Categories (like Hues, Special Effects, Nail Length, etc.)
      • Notes: This is a catch all for everything! Use it for anything you want to keep track of that isn't a specific field like number of layers to use for colours, what outfits your manicure went with, how long your manicure took
    • You can "view" your list of Colours and Manicures in different modes:
      • Normal (Main Photo, Name, Rating, and some other details like Ownership, Type, Categories and Brand)
      • Compact (Main Photo, Name and Rating)
      • Photo Gallery (a larger Main Photo, Name) - this is useful for seeing items next to each other, especially when used with filtering and sorting!
    • You can sort your list by Name, Brand, Rating, Date, or Manual
      • Manual mode allows you to move the order of items by pressing the pencil button, then holding the two little lines on the right of each line, and dragging them around the list (press the tick to stop sorting)
      • Tip: Use Manual mode to sort your Colours in the same order as your physical swatches if you have some! (sorting in Manual mode only works in Normal and Compact view, not Photo Gallery view)
    • You can filter your list by Colours, Minimum Rating, Categories, and:
      • For Colours: Brand, Ownership (All/Owned/Wishlist/Salon), Duplicates, Type (All/Official/Custom), Used in Manicures (All/Used/Unused)
      • For Manicures: Date Range
  4. Colours also uniquely have:
    • Ownership (Owned, Wishlist, Salon)
      • Owned - allows you to keep track of how many you have (for duplicates)
      • Wishlist - for colours you want (useful if importing a whole brand's catalog)
      • Salon - if the colour was at a salon!
    • Type (Official or Custom) - custom lets you select which colours you used to create your custom mix, together with ratios, perfect for mixing dip powders!
  5. Settings has some cute About info, lets you change the Colour Theme, and Import and Export to csv (comma separated value) file
    • Export your collection for sharing or backup
    • Tip: the exported file can be opened in Excel
    • Import pre-made catalogs
    • I'll share a GLAMRDiP file to import, with all colours marked as Wishlist so people can slowly start adding their own pictures to the ones they own :)
