2025 Wrap Up

It’s NYE, and we’ll soon be getting ready to go to Besk for NYE, so thought I’d do a little wrap up of the last little bits and pieces of 2025.

Christmas was a quiet one, with Andrew’s parents in Canberra with Olga (so we had an early Christmas there), but it was still lovely. We spent the 40 degree day at the beach, and Boxing Day at my parent’s place (last minute swap due to the 40 vs 26 degree weather). Andrew made an incredible ham!

My last day of work was the traditional BBQ at lake monger, such a lovely day. We also came second at The Pour House quiz with Greg that night (although this is from the DTC quiz, which we also placed in).

Like Father Like Son: Sina Bathaie, Javad Bathaie was an awesome night, chosen by my dad! He braved recent appendix removal surgery and came out for dinner at Chich and a show.

Got no photos from Sam’s baby shower except these! Cupcakes were a hit, even though they are only kind of blue.

We finally got our outdoor table! My parents are so confused about why we chose this concrete monstrosity (le indestructible as my mum is calling it). My dad offered to help us paint it whatever colour we like, after pointing out the base looks like a soak well (he’s not wrong). We love it!

The Airspace Pole Jam at Flying high went great, those guys were fantastic, the skills definitely translate!

A few more GLAMRDiPs, and also, I’m working on the Android version of NaildIt! It’s currently in the testing phase, which needs 12 people to test for 14 days, it’s tough to get an app out!

Flying High Student Showcase, BANKS in Sydney, RUFUS, and other bits and pieces

This year for the Flying High Student Showcase, and Flying High’s 10 year anniversary, the instructors did an absolutely adorable routine to a Spice Girls medley (Stop, Wannabe and Spice Up Your Life). We chose the Spice Girls for this special year’s showcase because we thought they perfectly represent fun, friendship, cheekiness, and the general Girl Power and badassery that comes with pole.

For my solo, I danced to the sassy “I hate your ex girlfriend” by BANKS, I just couldn’t stop thinking about doing a routine to this song when Off With Her Head came out! It was definitely out of my comfort zone, and a style/character I’m not usually comfortable with, but what better way to celebrate the 10 year anniversary showcase. Props to the Goodr sunglasses that did not budge! I never want to blow a bubble with gum ever again.

BANKS is one of my favourite artists, her voice is so powerful and her music just makes me feel like (pole) dancing, which is a great segue into our little Sydney trip to see BANKS at the Enmore Theatre! It was an absolutely fantastic show, really intimate with fantastic choreography and a crowd that sang all the words to ever song. I absolutely loved it! I surprised myself with some tears during Contaminated and Beggin for Thread, and lost it when I Hate Your Ex Girlfriend was the finale. I love her even more now if that’s possible!

We stayed the weekend in Sydney in Newtown and enjoyed the food and drinks scene, with standouts being all of the gluten free food at Maiz, gluten free doughnuts at Comeco Food Cafe (I haven’t had a jam doughnut for about 20 years and this one was incredible), the martinis and curry msg popcorn at Bar Planet, the Mar-tinnies and gigantic sandwich at Continental Deli, the potato cubes at Uncanny, and beer at The Union Hotel, Grifter Brewery and The Vic.

And some other bits and pieces from the last couple of months, starting with some pottery at Perth Pottery Co (haven’t got our creations back yet, they’re still being dried and fired):

We nailed the dress up brief for Kaylie and Brendan’s 80’s themed joint 40th, even the cupcakes and Rubik’s cube nails hit it!

RUFUS DU SOL at RAC Arena was mind-blowing, I can’t believe how good these guys are live, we had an absolute blast with Amy and Dermot!

We saw Cats which was… an experience. Everyone we mentioned it to warned us it was weird, and it did not disappoint! Claire explained it perfectly - it’s basically a really elaborate roll call for a bunch of cats, and the magical Mr Mistoffelees wasn’t even really that magical.

Fremantle Beerfest was a lovely day out in Freo as usual, although we’re still waiting for summer to actually come.
