We started off 2024 with some awesome live music, seeing SBTRKT at the Rechabite, and Wildlands (Rufus du Sol) at the Claremont Showgrounds.
So exciting to see SBTRKT! Even though it was on the Friday night before Wildlands, at 12-2am... He played a very cool DJ set, with the highlights being Wildfire and Pharos, otherwise was very drum and bassy, maybe even too much so but possible that opinion is because we got a little tired towards the end.
On Saturday we had an amazing lunch at Vin Populi celebrating Claire's birthday and filling our tummies with lots of carbs for energy to dance for like 6 hours.
Wildlands was awesome! My outfit choice meant it was really easy for people to find us, unless they mistook someone from security for me.
We arrived at Wildlands at around 3:30pm, and decided to watch G Flip from a-far in the shade. The first band I really wanted to see was Romy, and she was lovely but a bit too pop for me compared to The XX. We went back to watch the Jungle Giants who were fun, and then went back to see Luude who was... interesting. I think he played every track for a maximum of 15 seconds, and we managed to somehow find ourselves in a transit/washing machine zone. The highlight was Amy crushing cans with her foot of steel.
Back to the main stage, after what felt like hours in the line for the gross toilets, we caught some of Central Cee and waited for Rufus du Sol.
Rufus was beyond expectations, I get shivers just thinking about it! I am somehow even more obsessed than before, he is amazing. Highlights were On My Knees and Alive, and Adam getting everyone and anyone on his shoulders.
The Silent Disco to finish the night was really fun too, silly dancing with a great group of friends.
2023 Wrap Up
It already feels like 2024 is well under way, Christmas and NYE seem so long ago!
So nice having Greg, Yvy and Benny here!
We might have started a little Christmas eve (and maybe pre-Christmas movie) tradition :)
Christmas was lovely, with lots of food, drinks, catchups with family and friends. Christmas was at Andrew's parent's house, with Iva, Michael and Olga over from Canberra.
Pretty tiring!
And it was Olgas first Christmas!
Boxing day was at my parents, thank god for the cool change in weather.
It was sad to see Iva, Michael and Olga off, but so nice to have them over.
NYE was our traditional trip to The Garden Party in Leederville. Fun as usual (too fun for photos apparently!), but as usual pres was the highlight. If only we found that elusive drum and bass room...
