Europe Trip 2025 Wrap Up
I thought I’d do a little wrap up post with the highlights from our trip to warm me up while I sit rugged up under the heater in Perth. It was an amazing holiday, hard to not think about the whole thing as a highlight!
Serbia - Belgrade
- Being together with Andrew’s extended family and friends to celebrate Olga, the hospitality and amazing events organised by Michael and Iva
- The trendiest city on the trip - the enviable “just tell us what you like” bar culture, runs through castles and ruins
- The cevapi, pljeskavica, kajmak, tomatos, strawberries, and incredible produce in general
- Doing the puzzle of Knez Mihailova Street all together, the street we were staying on
Romania
Bucarest
Seeing Mari, authentic food (and papanasi) at Caru cu Bere, the open air museum, and incredible and absurd Palace of Parliament building.

Comana
Hugging my grandparents and uncle, eating a vision straight off the tree.
Brasov
The most charming city on the trip, seeing my aunty and uncle, hiking Tampa with Yvonne, Doru taking us on a little car tour, Bran castle, and the rădașcă beetle.
Transfagarasan
Totally agree with Top Gear’s assertion this is the best drive in the world, seeing so many bears! Stop at Sibiu was also cute.
Cluj
Good beer, but highlight was the day trip to the Salina in Turda.
Hungary - Budapest
- The most impressive city on the trip, just too much to look at
- Cruise on the Danube, Hungarian Parliament, Buda Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion, then seeing it all again in person
- Ruin bars, food caravans, chimney cake, goulash
Austria
Vienna
Rain and sooo much wind, Klimt, orchestra, apple strudel.
Graz and Thal
Arnie! I love him even more.
St Wolfgang
The most beautiful city on the trip, the blue lakes and lying on the pontoon in Strobl is in my meditation memory bank for good.
Hallstatt
Glad we went, it’s a beautiful city, but more glad we that we spent most of our time in St Wolfgang.
Salzburg
Like Budapest on a smaller scale, seeing the city while getting caught in a gay pride parade.
Innsbruck
The cute little stop on the way to Aqua Dome.
Aqua Dome (Oberlangenfeld)
The most relaxing stop on the trip, the second martini glass pool with the mountain views, not knowing what we’ve been missing with sauna infusions.
Germany
Stuttgart
Mercedes Benz museum, seeing the incredible history and various 190E versions, and fun fun fun on the autobahn.
Munich
The coolest city on the trip, beer gardens galore, the overwhelmingly impressive Deutsches Museum, the glockenspiel encores, desperately wishing we had the concept of a Therme.
Back in Perth
So sad it's over. We made so many incredible memories, and we will make sure to ride this holiday high as long as possible! The few plus sides are a perfecf flat white from Leaf and Bean, Smiths Salt and Vinager Chips, and a proper IPA, although I'd give all this up for lakes of Austria in a heartbeat.
