Melbourne - Attica

Wow, what an experience! I've never experienced anything like Attica before. Everything was so beautifully created and well thought out, and the wine (and beer, and sake) pairings were inspired.

The most delicious dish was Gazza's Vegemite Pie, which was a lamb and Vegemite pastry puff covered in grated cheese. The most beautiful dish was the Whipped Emu Egg with Quandong dessert which was served in a hollowed out Emu egg. The funnest thing was going out into the garden to have a Gumbi Gumbi tea in Attica's garden. The most exciting thing was trying abalone for the first time, which was delicious although I can't understand why people would risk their lives diving for it. The most intimidating thing was the Camel Milk Ice which was sprinkled with edible ants; I couldn't bring myself to eat them.

The overall best thing was when Andrew tried to eat the decorative quandong seeds in the wicker and feather basket. The hardest thing was trying to suppress a laugh when, after Andrew almost broke his teeth trying to eat one, we asked the waiter what they were and he explained they were made by the indigenous locals as a table decoration. Trust the Perth people.

Cupcake Day for the RSPCA 2017

Immersive Technologies raised $217.60 on Cupcake Day for the RSPCA this year, well done and thank you everyone! Last year we raised $215.60, so I must say, you are an extremely consistent bunch.

You can still donate directly to the RSPCA via the website :)

31, Family Edition

Last night we had our parents over for dinner. Andrew made spaghetti bolognese and Mina loved it so much that she asked for the recipe. I made a gluten free polenta, orange and rosemary cake which blew my parent's mind; how can polenta be a dessert!? Well it turns out it can and they even kind of liked it, except for my dad who snuck half of his onto my mum's plate.

Also, look at what Amy's mum, the infinitely talented Carol made me:

31

Another year, another party where we eat and drink too much. This year we maybe even enjoyed it a little bit too much because the "police" (well, the "Stirling security guards" which is a real thing that exists) even payed us a visit to ask us to turn it down a little! It was off the hook guys! (Well... some dogs that always bark were barking).

31, I guess it's not that much worse than 30. Although it is an instant loss in the maths dice drinking game that Georgia and Heath taught us. For this game, you have to be really good at maths, and also be able to say one number, then another number. I'm not sure if there was a winner, but after all the bonus round vodka shots I think were all sort of the losers!

As usual Mina made her famous Romanian doughnuts (gogosi) and my mum made her delicious meatballs which disappeared pretty much instantly. This year Andrew also made us a roast which was amazing, although he did slightly over cater with the buns and confused a few people (particularly Tammy) with the bowl of rocket.

Claire baked brie and it pretty much Georgia's dream come true!

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate! I kept up the tradition of "photo when you leave" which is a great way to make sure you end up with a photo with everyone! Except for Julien and Greg who escaped my terrible selfie skills.
